No one knows the car history of the electric vehicle for sure. Most people speculate that it is between eighteen thirty two and eighteen thirty nine. Robert Anderson a Scottish man was the first to build a crude electric carriage. Sometime around eighteen thirty five a man named Professor Stratingh designed an electric car and later his assistant, Christopher built it.

Both of these men figured out a way to make the first non-rechargeable electric cells. Around eighteen sixty five a french man named Gaston Plante invented a much better battery which in turn made way for electric vehicles to go much further.
In eighteen ninety nine another person named Camille Jenatzy designed an electric car which was called "La Jamais Contente", this car set a land speed record of sixty eight miles per hour. A couple years before this in eighteen ninety five Americans finally began to pay attention to the electric vehicles.
The Americans paying attention to this electric vehicle took the invention of an electric tricycle and a six passenger wagon back in the year of nineteen sixty one. The tricycle and wagon was built by two men by the name of A. L Ryker and William Morrison.
The electric vehicles that were around in nineteen o' two were nothing more than just electric horseless carriages. The Wood's Phaeton could only go fourteen miles per hour and it cost only two thousand dollars. But this was a lot of money back in the nineteen hundreds. Around nineteen sixteen Woods made a hybrid car and it had an internal combustion engine and also an electric motor.
At the turn of the century the electric, gas and steam powered cars were becoming very popular. In eighteen ninety nine and nineteen hundred was when the most cars were bought and they were outsold by all other types of cars. The electric cars were much better than their rival. They were lacking in vibration, smell and noise. This was good because the gas powered car had all of these and most people did not like them.
Gottlieb Deimler finally invented what people call the prototype of a modern gas engine, this was done in eighteen eighty five and finally patented in eighteen eighty seven. Daimler was the first to build a two wheeled vehicle which he called the "Reitwagen" and a year later he built the first four wheel motor vehicle.
